Relay Selection for Bidirectional AF Relay Network with Outdated CSI

Most previous researches on bidirectional relay selection (RS) typically assume perfect channel state information (CSI). However, outdated CSI, caused by the the time-variation of channel, cannot be ignored in the practical system, and it will deteriorate the performance. In this paper, the effect of outdated CSI on the performance of bidirectional amplify-and-forward RS is investigated. The optimal single RS scheme in minimizing the symbol error rate (SER) is revised by incorporating the outdated channels. The analytical expressions of end-to-end signal to noise ratio (SNR) and symbol error rate (SER) are derived in a closed-form, along with the asymptotic SER expression in high SNR. All the analytical expressions are verified by the Monte-Carlo simulations. The analytical and the simulation results reveal that once CSI is outdated, the diversity order degrades to one from full diversity. Furthermore, a multiple RS scheme is proposed and verified that this scheme is a feasible solution to compensate the diversity loss caused by outdated CSI.Comment: accepted by IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technolog

Optimized active disturbance rejection control for DC-DC buck converters with uncertainties using a reduced-order GPI observer

The output voltage regulation problem of a PWM- based DC-DC buck converter under various sources of uncertainties and disturbances is investigated in this paper via an optimized active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) approach. Aiming to practical implementation, a new reduced-order generalized proportional integral (GPI) observer is first designed to estimate the lumped (possibly time-varying) disturbances within the DC- DC circuit. By integrating the disturbance estimation information raised by the reduced-order GPI observer (GPIO) into the output prediction, an optimized ADRC method is developed to achieve optimized tracking performance even in the presence of distur- bances and uncertainties. It is shown that the proposed controller will guarantee the rigorous stability of closed-loop system, for any bounded uncertainties of the circuit, by appropriately choosing the observer gains and the bandwidthfactor. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed control solution is characterised by improved robustness performance against various disturbances and uncertainties compared to traditional ADRC and integral MPC approaches

Experimental study of a membrane-based liquid desiccant dehumidifier based on internal air temperature variation

A membrane-based liquid desiccant dehumidifier with the separated air stream and liquid desiccant channels has the ability to solve its working fluid carryover problem in the traditional direct contact system. The sensible, latent, total effectiveness and air moisture removal rate are adopted for the dehumidifier performance evaluation in this paper, and the dehumidifier main operating parameters are investigated experimentally to identify their influences and internal air temperature variations, including inlet air relative humidity (RH), inlet solution concentration and temperature, heat capacity rate ratio (Cr*) and number of heat transfer units (NTU). It is found that both the inlet air RH and solution temperature have the negative influences on the dehumidifier effectiveness, while the desiccant solution concentration has little positive influence; the air moisture removal rate rises sharply with the inlet air RH and solution concentration. The highest sensible, latent and total effectiveness achieved in this study are 0.823, 0.802 and 0.810 respectively when both Cr* and NTU are equal to 12. However the operating condition with NTU=8 and Cr*=6 is recommended with the corresponding sensible, latent and total effectiveness of 0.758, 0.71 and 0.728 respectively

PREDICTING METHOD OF NATURAL FREQUENCY FOR SHIP’S OVERALL VERTICAL VIBRATION

At ship design stage, empirical formulas are generally used to predict the overall vertical vibration natural frequency of ship to avoid the harmful resonance against main excitation. Nowadays, with the development of modern large-scale ships, the existing empirical formulas are becoming unpractical, some corrections shall be applied on these classical formulas or a new formula is to be derived for the prediction of vertical vibration frequencies of ship. In this paper, a new empirical formula is given for predicting the natural frequency of ship overall vertical vibration. Based on the Timoshenko beam theory, the formula is derived by introducing by shear coefficient to correction shear uniform distribution hypothesis for a thin-walled box beam with free-free boundary condition. This new formula is obtained by statistical analysis for large amounts of measured natural frequency results of the ship overall vertical vibration. The proposed prediction method in this paper was used to predict the natural frequencies of six ships. The predicted natural frequencies are consistent with that by measurements. The comparison with measurements show that the formula proposed in this article is more feasible to use, and also provide a new method to the prediction of natural frequency of the ship overall vertical vibration

Aim. To investigate the effect of Tongxinluo (Txl), a Chinese herbal compound, on diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Methods and Results. Diabetic rat model was established by peritoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ). Txl ultrafine powder treatment for 16 weeks from the baseline significantly reversed the impairment of motor nerve conductive velocity (MNCV), mechanical hyperalgesia, and nerve structure. We further proved that Tongxinluo upregulates PGC-1α and its downstream factors including COX IV and SOD, which were involved in mitochondrial biogenesis. Conclusion. Our study indicates that the protective effect of Txl in diabetic neuropathy may be attributed to the induction of PGC-1α and its downstream targets. This finding may further illustrate the pleiotropic effect of the medicine
